UnitedHealthcare Policy Changes

UnitedHealthcare announced the following policy changes:
Delay in Reimbursement Policy Enhancements
In previous Network Bulletins, several policy changes were announced that were scheduled to be implemented in the claim system in August 2007. These changes have been delayed until December 2007 due to system readiness issues. The following policy was affected:
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) Edits Policy - Update*
In the July 2007 Network Bulletin, UHC announced a new reimbursement policy, implementing those CMS National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits not otherwise addressed under existing UnitedHealthcare's reimbursement policies. The effective date of the CCI Edits Policy is now targeted for December 2007.
* These reimbursement policies only apply to services reported in a CMS 1500 format (or successor format) or its electronic equivalent. Until system updates occur, reimbursement will continue to follow current UnitedHealthcare reimbursement policy as those policies are posted online.
