EDI Employee of the Year: Brenda Ware

At the annual EDI "State of the Department" meeting, held January 8, 2004, EDI Vice President Tony Petras named the 2003 EDI Employee of the Year. This year the distinction went to Brenda Ware, EDI Support Rep for West Virginia. This is the second year that the award has been conferred.

"This year, the field was much more crowded, and the merits of several individuals were obvious," noted Tony, who selects the award recipient. "However, once I began to identify objective measurements and coupled them with subjective intangibles, [Brenda] emerged as the clear-cut winner."

Brenda joined the Quadax team as an EDI Support Rep in 2001, after gaining considerable healthcare billing experience as an account rep at Preston Memorial Hospital . Along with Greg Posey, she currently services approximately 60 accounts throughout most of West Virginia and the bordering counties of southern Ohio and Kentucky, including WVU, UHC, and Davis Memorial Hospital. Notably, Brenda was involved in all upgrades/installations in the region. "For the most part I do the training and answer any questions or research our clients may have at the time of the installation... or in the future."

During the award presentation, Tony cited the contributions and accomplishments that served as the basis for Brenda's selection as EDI Employee of the Year. Among them were:

  • Colleague and client accolades
  • RAMP-UP work that resulted in additional revenue
  • Fact-finding missions that were turned into corrective actions
  • Brenda's use of EDI tools that "brought resolutions to potentially stressful situations"

"Add to this the isolation of working from home at the furthest reaches of our region," Tony noted.

"I think that it is great that someone realizes that it can be very tough dealing with the obstacles that service reps deal with on a day-to-day basis," Brenda commented on receiving the award.

Asked about the best part of her job, Brenda replied, "My job is very fulfilling…I learn something new each and every day." She also acknowledged the importance of her co-workers. "If I have a question, someone will take the time to explain the process thoroughly. I also like the fact that everybody is treated equally [at Quadax]."

So what's the secret to Brenda's success? "I stay in constant contact with my clients," she states. "I always try to make them feel that their concern is very important to me no matter how small. I always ask them what they think and what can I do to make things better."

Along with the award (an engraved-crystal keepsake), Brenda received a gift card to one of her favorite stores, Bass Pro Shops, as a token of appreciation for her efforts.

Congratulations, Brenda, from the entire Quadax family! We wish you continued success in your career here.
