Take Advantage of the Convenience Offered by MyDrBill and MyLabBill

By:Candace Wintering, Manager, TechComm Services

Author's pictureConvenience–what we all look for in our busy lives, especially for routine tasks that don’t fall into the “fun” category. That’s why Quadax designed and built a patient portal that interfaces with HARP, our A/R management software. The portal, called MyDrBill or MyLabBill (depending on the type of medical services), provides patients a convenient way to pay their medical bills online plus so much more. Even practices that don’t accept credit card payments will benefit from offering their patients the online management features of MyDrBill/MyLabBill.

Accurate information is essential to our business, and MyDrBill/MyLabBill makes it easy for patients to update their address, phone numbers, or insurance information. When updates are made online, the patient account is added to a work list, which can be assigned by the client, and then staff can make the changes in HARP. This feature is convenient for the practice because it reduces paper work, and claims or patient statements are sent to the correct party, saving time and resources needed for follow-up. In addition to changing demographic or insurance information, patients can view their billing and payment history online, check their balances, and see when and how payments were applied. Healthcare professionals who have client billing accounts (roster accounts) can also check their monthly invoices. Since these informational requests are accomplished online, the number of phone calls should decrease.

Practices that accept credit card payments through MyDrBill/MyLabBill will reap the benefits of receiving payments sooner. Patients and roster accounts can pay online at any time so you are not waiting for mailed checks. Payment files containing all credit card payments can be automatically posted to patient accounts, similar to remittance posting, thus avoiding time-consuming manual posting. Patients can even request hardship payment plans online.

Our in-house developers are currently working on a project to convert paper statements to electronic statements (eStatements). Patients will have the option to receive eStatements through MyDrBill/MyLabBill instead of in the mail. E-mail notifications will be sent to patients who choose this option, and they will be able to access their bill from a link in the e-mail. A convenience for patients—but reducing the high cost of mailing is a real cost-saving benefit for a practice! Another project in the development stage is the ability to preview and approve monthly client billing invoices before they are sent to the responsible parties. Look for news on both these features in the coming months.

As with all our Web applications, Quadax takes the utmost care in protecting patient privacy. MyDrBill/MyLabBill is a safe, secure site that can be integrated into a client’s own Web site. We customize MyDrBill/MyLabBill with a client’s own logo and can even use the same style sheets so the look is similar to the client’s site. The transition to MyDrBill/MyLabBill from a client’s site is seamless so patients feel confident their personal data is entrusted with their own medical care provider.

If you are not already using MyDrBill/MyLabBill for your practice, contact your account representative to learn how to activate it. Our representatives will be happy to discuss it with you—at your convenience.
