EDI State of the Department

By: Emily Emmerich, EDI Marketing Specialist

Author's pictureThe much-anticipated EDI State of the Department presentation was held last month to highlight the year’s achievements and enumerate the goals for the new year. All members of EDI Services, EDI Systems, officers of the company, and specially invited guests attended the eleventh annual presentation.

The meeting began with a photographic montage paying tribute to the EDI Services CEO, Tom Kish, who retired in November after 35 years of service to Quadax.

A number of significant accomplishments of 2010 were highlighted during the presentation, including these statistics:

  • Over 54 million individual transactions were processed.
  • Our Transmissions Team conducted 139,614 transmissions, which was an increase of 34% from the previous year.
  • Our Service Team performed 2,689 on-site visits to clients.

Some important highlights of 2010:

  • Quadax submitted to review and was successfully awarded reaccredidation according to EHNAC standards of excellence. Our EHNAC accreditation is particularly valuable to our clients because it is a solid indication that our services meet the highest standards in the industry.
  • The implementation of a new EOB brought standardization to the remit process by making it easy for clients and payers to comprehend how each line was adjudicated by the previous payer.
  • Various programming modifications were completed in anticipation of Ohio Medicaid replacing its Medical Management System with the enhanced Ohio Medicaid Information Technology.
  • The Payer List was given a makeover, which has made it even more user-friendly.
  • A PECOS (Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System) report was coded within Xpeditor which identifies two special remark codes on an 835 that are Medicare’s warning to providers that physicians are not properly registered in the PECOS system.
  • The development of the MAC/RAC Recoupment report was created to identify where take-backs and adjustments occur on the Medicare 835.

A number of projects and goals for 2011 were outlined in the State of the Department presentation, which include:

  • Converting to 50.10. Having performed gap analyses and modifying internal systems in preparation for the 50.10 format, we are now ready to proceed with conversion and testing. There is much work to be done, but Quadax will be in full compliance with the 50.10 mandate by the enforcement date of January 1, 2012.
  • Completion of the MCX Xtension. Medicare ConnectionX (MCX), our latest Xpeditor Xtension, is being developed in conjunction with VisionShare® to enhance Xpeditor’s handling of Medicare claims with data normally only available in the Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS). MCX users, able to improve accuracy and efficiency in Medicare claims processing, will benefit from faster reimbursement, streamlined workflow, and better reporting.

The dominant message of this year’s State of the Department presentation was a reminder that change in the healthcare industry is a constant on which we can rely. The concept of “growth” is what we must embrace. Quadax EDI Services is solid and has proven year after year to our clients that they can depend on us in the ever-changing industry.
